At the Roxy Theatre right now
Northampton's single-screen Roxy Theatre (roxytheaternorthampton.com) is currently showing Coyote vs. Acme (rated PG). Evenings run daily at 7:00 PM, with matinees Monday and Wednesday at 1:00 PM and Sunday at 2:00 PM. Tickets are $3 and sold only at the box office; advance tickets are not available, so plan to arrive about 25 minutes before showtime.

This week and next around the Lehigh Valley
Right in town, the Uptown Northampton Street Fair returns this Saturday, September 12 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM along Main Street in Northampton Borough, roughly from 17th to 21st streets. Now in its 37th year, the fair brings more than 100 local craft and business vendors, live music, food trucks, and family-friendly activities, organized with the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce. Main Street closes to traffic for the day, so allow for detours if you are heading through town.
Elsewhere in the region, Forks Community Days runs Friday through Sunday, September 18-20 at Forks Community Park with food, entertainment, and family activities. On Saturday, September 19, the Rock the Park & Food Truck Festival takes over Victory Park in Slatington, and Historic Bethlehem's Bethlehem Vintage & Harvest Market runs 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM (with a Market-to-Go on Friday evening, September 18, 4:00 to 7:00 PM). Sunday, September 20 brings the Lehigh Valley Wicked Plant Fest: Fall to the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks in Bethlehem from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and Devon Gilfillian performs at 7:00 PM that evening in the Musikfest Café.
Northampton Borough news and meetings
Northampton Borough Council holds its regular meeting on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at 7:00 PM at the municipal building at 1401 Laubach Avenue, held as a hybrid meeting (in person plus streamed online). Borough park and recreation improvements have been in the local news, including upgrades to Canal Street Park and the D&L Trail corridor. The Northampton Borough Municipal Authority also holds a monthly public meeting at 4:00 PM at its headquarters at 1 Clear Springs Drive; agendas and minutes are posted at nbma.org.
Northampton Area School District
The Northampton Area School District is into the new 2026-27 year. A notable change is in place: new K-5 attendance boundaries under the district's redistricting plan took effect with the opening of the new East Allen Elementary School and Educational Center, so families with younger students should confirm their assigned elementary school on the district site.
The school board follows an approved 2026 meeting schedule with regular meetings on the second Monday of each month; the September meeting is Monday, September 14, held at 6:30 PM in the auditorium at Northampton Area High School (1619 Laubach Avenue) and streamed on the district website. The district publishes its 2026-27 calendar and fall athletics schedules at nasdschools.org. On the budget side, the board preliminarily adopted the 2026-27 budget in May with a 4.2% tax increase, and finance discussions since have included possible cuts and a proposed student activity fee, so this remains an active topic at board meetings.
Places to eat out right now
New on the dining scene this year, The Shelby opened in February at Hamilton Crossings in the space of the former TGI Fridays, serving an American and global menu, with a Middle Eastern and Mediterranean concept, Zahra, planned at the same address. Chicken Salad Chick opened its first Pennsylvania location with a grand opening on August 4 at the Airport Shopping Center in Hanover Township, and Nori Japan, a fast-casual Japanese spot, opened this spring at Lehigh Valley Mall in Whitehall. Breeze Mediterranean, at 1243 W. Tilghman Street in Allentown, serves hummus, falafel, and kabobs.
Ahead, First Watch is planned as the Lehigh Valley's first location at 2102 Emrick Boulevard in Bethlehem Township, and Texas de Brazil is set for the former Ruby Tuesday space at Lehigh Valley Mall.
Near 4021 Pine Hurst Drive in Northampton and Nazareth, these local spots are easy picks: Nazareth Diner for a full-menu classic, Sicily Pizza for pizza, Los Compadres for Mexican, Catty Corner in Nazareth for pub fare and pie, and Pizza Joe's for Italian. And for a night out on food trucks, Forks Community Days (September 18-20) and the Rock the Park Food Truck Festival in Slatington (September 19) both lean heavily on the region's food-truck lineup.
