What's on in the Lehigh Valley: late September

A look at what's happening around and near 4021 Pine Hurst Drive from the middle to the end of September 2026: fall farm season opening across the Lehigh Valley, the Lehigh Valley Space Fest and Oktoberfest at SteelStacks, the current movie at the Roxy Theatre in Northampton, upcoming Borough and school district meetings, and a newly opened dining spot just up Route 248. Details below were checked against official sites and local reporting the week of September 11, 2026.
At the Roxy Theatre right now
As of this week's check of the official site, Northampton's single-screen Roxy Theatre is still running Coyote vs. Acme (rated PG). Evenings play daily at 7:00 PM, with matinees Monday and Wednesday at 1:00 PM and Sunday at 2:00 PM. Tickets are $3 and sold only at the box office, which opens about 25 minutes before showtime, with free parking behind the theatre.

Fall farm season arrives
September's back half is when the valley's farms come alive for fall, and most are open now through late October. Grim's Orchard & Family Farms in Breinigsville runs its Fall Festival daily through November 1, with an 8-acre corn maze, hayrides out to the pumpkin patch, pick-your-own pumpkins and apples, and the cider donuts they are known for. Nearer to Easton, Raub's Farm Market in Palmer Township keeps its 7-acre corn maze, hayrides, pumpkins, and mums open through October 31.
Harvest Fields Corn Maze & Hayride opens its weekend maze October 3 through 25 and adds a haunted hayride Friday and Saturday evenings October 9 through 24. Valley Fruits & Veggies in Bath has a pumpkin patch, corn maze, and glow-maze nights, and Bear Rock Junction in New Tripoli pairs a corn maze with train rides and go-karts. Bob White Acres in Coopersburg offers apple picking and a pumpkin patch on fall weekends, and Olde Stone Farm near Easton hosts Harvest Days most Saturdays and Sundays in October. Farms close for weather and as crops are picked, so confirm current hours on each farm's site before heading out.
Events around the valley this week and next
The Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber hosts the Allentown Liberty Bell Festival on Monday, September 21, and Emmaus waves goodbye to summer with its Farewell to Summer celebration this Saturday, September 19. Families should circle Saturday, September 26 for the free Lehigh Valley Space Fest, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Lehigh University's Mountaintop Campus, a family STEM festival with exhibitors, a planetarium, an astronaut photo station, solar astronomy, and food trucks.
Look ahead to the first weekends of October for Oktoberfest at SteelStacks, the 16th annual edition on the ArtsQuest campus in Bethlehem, running October 2-4 and October 9-11 with German food and beer in the Yuengling Biergarten, live music, and dachshund races, plus the Yuengling Oktoberfest 5K on Sunday, October 4. Historic Downtown Bethlehem follows with its free Harvest Fest street festival on Saturday, October 10. Both are free to attend and easy day trips from Northampton.
Northampton Borough news and meetings
Northampton Borough Council holds its regular meeting Thursday, September 17 at 7:00 PM in the Council Chambers at Borough Hall, and the meeting is streamed on the borough's YouTube channel. Agendas post to the borough site beforehand, so check there for the current item list and any public-comment details. In recent months the borough has been reviewing park and pool operations, pavilion rental fees, and a 2026 budget approved with a 2.5-mill tax increase, and the borough recently introduced a new borough logo.
The borough's Planning Commission meets the second Wednesday of the month and the Zoning Hearing Board the second Thursday, both at 7:00 PM at Borough Hall. The separately run Northampton Borough Municipal Authority (NBMA), which manages the borough's water and sewer systems, holds its next regular board meeting Tuesday, October 13 at 4:00 PM at 1 Clear Springs Drive, with agendas and minutes posted at nbma.org.
Northampton Area School District
The Northampton Area School District school board holds its September meeting this Monday, September 14 at 6:30 PM in the auditorium at Northampton Area High School (1619 Laubach Avenue) and streams it on the district website; the next regular board meeting on the approved Monday schedule is October 12.
The Konkrete Kids varsity football team has home games ahead at Al Erdosy Stadium: vs. Parkland on Friday, September 25 and vs. Pleasant Valley on Thursday, October 1, with afternoons at Liberty (September 17) and Easton (October 9) on the road. The district's 2026-27 redistricting remains in effect this year, with new K-5 attendance boundaries under the district's plan, and the approved 2026-27 calendar and fall athletics schedules are published at nasdschools.org.
Places to eat out right now
The notable local opening this month: Dave's Hot Chicken opened its doors the week of September 9 at the Nazareth Crossing shopping center on Route 248 in Lower Nazareth Township, in the former SaladWorks end-unit space, bringing its spicy Nashville-style tenders and sliders a short drive from Northampton. Around the same time, Katie's Country Kitchen in North Whitehall Township announced it would close ahead of a new business venture, so check before making a special trip.
Reflecting on the season's earlier openings, Bango opened its first Pennsylvania location in Lower Macungie over the summer, and the Lehigh Valley's first First Watch is planned for Bethlehem Township. Near 4021 Pine Hurst Drive in Northampton and Nazareth, these local spots remain easy picks: Nazareth Diner for a full-menu classic, Sicily Pizza for pizza, Los Compadres for Mexican, Catty Corner in Nazareth for pub fare and pie, Pizza Joe's for Italian, and Mad J's BBQ for a smokehouse option. For the sweet end of fall, stop by Grim's for a warm apple cider donut while you are out at the orchard.
